National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS is an extension of activities to the higher education system to orient the students to the community service while they are studying in educational institutions, under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India. It provides opportunity to the students of classes 11th & 12th to take part in various Government led community service activities & programmes. The primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student through voluntary community service. "A Education Through Service" is the purpose of NSS
The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also shows consideration to the other living beings. The philosophy of NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.
